Games Workshop scenery gives Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar battles a physical setting. Industrial structures, ruined buildings, walls and woodland can shape the look of a gaming table as well as provide a backdrop for painted miniatures and display projects.
Sector Mechanicus and Zone Mortalis have a strongly industrial character, while Azyrite ruins and Sylvaneth woodland suit the fantasy setting of the Mortal Realms. Different terrain kits bring different footprints, heights and assembly arrangements, which matters when fitting scenery onto an existing board or building around a particular gaming layout. Basing materials work on a smaller scale, adding ground texture and detail around individual models. Many miniature-painting methods can also be used on scenery. Drybrushing can pick out raised stone, metal and textured ground, while washes and layered colours can add depth to larger surfaces and architectural detail.
